Perttu Murto - Excellent illustration from Finland

Perttu Murto is a Finnish , 20-year-old graphic artist. He started working with graphics and photographing in year 2003. Despite his young age, Perttu has already acquired respect troughout the world. At the moment he studies his first year of information technology in the Oulu Polytechnic Institute of Technology.

By taking a perspective usually limited to looking at art in the museum to the everyday world I interact with existing public situations. The consequences of these encounters are interventions or temporary installations which are often abandoned. In this process the artist subjugates himself to the act of perception by being anonymous.

What makes something the real thing? It’s more than functionality, popularity, or beauty. The author Owen Edwards wrote a book in 1983 that gave this phenomenon a name: Quintessence.

No Accounting For Design?

Great design drives profits. We know that. But we can’t prove it–yet.
It’s the design world’s dirty little secret. Despite the growing consensus that “good design is good business,” most companies lack objective financial metrics to help them calculate whether increased investment in design will, in fact, generate increased profits. Does it matter? Chuck Jones, Whirlpool’s (NYSE:WHR) design chief, certainly thinks so.
